We've recently finished some new construction on our Nitro gifting system and wanted to take a moment to let you all know all the deets!
Introducing Account Credit
Previously, redeeming multiple or yearly Nitro subscriptions from gifts applied subscription time directly to one’s expiration date.
In this latest update - instead of gifted subscription time being added onto your already existing subscription, gifted subscription time will become account credit! Your subscription will renew at its usual renewal date, and account credit will be applied. You will not be charged and you will receive an email confirming renewal at $0.
How it Works
Account credits, aka your gifted time, are applied and begin depletion once a gift code is redeemed.
Gifted time will be applied automatically for new subscriptions, renewals, and some upgrades (specifically only when the billing period is changing)!
Moving forward, if you redeem gifted Nitro subscriptions, you can now view your remaining gifted time (in months) as account credits from User Setting > Subscriptions!
Additionally, you will now be able to redeem gifted Nitro subscriptions while having any type of active Nitro subscription.
Note: The account credit will only be consumed for redeeming matching subscription plans [Nitro > Nitro / Classic > Classic]!
For example, if you have Nitro Classic account credits, you will deplete that gifted time only while subscribed at the Nitro Classic subscription tier (not Nitro)! These same rules apply if you have Nitro account credits. In that instance, you can only deplete gifted Nitro subscription time if that’s the tier you’re currently subscribed to (not Nitro Classic)!
What Happens if I Cancel My Subscription?
If you cancel your subscription and you don’t have any account credit, your subscription will end at the renewal date instead of billing you again!
But if your subscription is canceled and you do have account credit, you will need to go through the process of making a purchase of that same Nitro plan as the gift, but instead of being charged, it will utilize the gifted time already associated with your account before charging your card for another months time.
