Unfair prices (currency)
Hi ;)
I would like to point out a small problem that appeared on Discord. It is related to the Nitro subscription, and more precisely to the price of this subscription. Depending on the selected currency, the prices are extremely different. For example, as of today, i.e. May 3, 2023, the price in Turkish currency = $ 13 for a yearly nitro subscription (the better version). In the case of Poland it is $115, in the case of the USA it is $99.
This is not only unfair, but leads to very strange situations. Many people create an account using Turkish email, VPN, PayPal or other means to buy a subscription. I see it often in Poland. Such people offer to buy nitro cheaper, making money on it (as a gift - then they have an additional 30% discount).
I think this is a huge problem, and with the spread of information about alternative ways to save on nitro, such "scams" will be more and more. Discord should make money on the subscription, not dishonest users.
What do you think?

This is not illegal or against Discord as long as the Turkish credit card details are legally obtained and are no way related in shape or form to fraud. Scams do not differ from the fact that you can also buy cheap Nitro in various marketplaces around Discord servers and get scammed.

Which does not change the fact that the prices are not very fair. Some have to pay 10 times more than others.

This is called localized pricing for a reason. The average yearly salary in Turkey is about 94.000 turkish lira per year. That comes down to just under $5000 USD. You think they will spend 2% of their YEARLY income on discord nitro? It would just completely be unviable to buy discord nitro if you're from there. Meanwhile the average yearly salary in the usa in 2021 was $97.962, or even if we pick the median salary, it's slightly under $70.000 usd. That makes nitro in the USA 0.14% of one's median annual salary, or 0.10% of one's annual salary.
Please explain how it would be more fair for them to pay 2% of their annual salary compared to 0.14/0.10% of one's annual salary in the USA.
If you convert it, they pay 270 Turkish Lira for 1 year, which is you take the annual Turkish salary of 94.000 Turkish Lira per year, they still pay 0.29% of their annual income for 1 year of nitro. So maybe you are correct, the price might be unfair, however it's unfair for Turkish discord users, and not USA
