listen. discord has a lot of problems. its usernames are NOT a current priority.
discords username discriminators are one of the few things keeping discord up on the stilts that prevent it from being like every other soulless corporation. as it stands within recent years discord has really just been plummeting as the corporation tries to appeal to an audience it was never made for.
not to mention, by making it like every other website, people are GOING to begin making 'rare' account usernames and selling them.
discord has issues, but this is NOT what it should be focusing on. by continuing to change it into something it isn't, you're going to end up driving away your main audience. just don't.

  Its also going to be priming people for impersonation and mass botting, its horrible. just utterly and absolutely horrible.

  Yeah. Discord is prioritizing.... trying to net twitter users, i guess, at the expense of the entire userbase. It's awful.
