[Username Update] Discord is Embarrassing

I can't believe Discord used a REDDIT post to justify their shitty username change.

NGL, at first I was confused as to users were on about when they kept mentioning how Discord used a random post from a subreddit to support that dumb 40% statistic but re-reading over their (edited) blog post, they actually LINKED it...RIP 2 the user being flamed rn lmao.

The justifications for this update is bullshit though, seems like they scrambled for last minute "evidence" and any support from random Discord users to reason this process even though apparently

These weren’t easy decisions, and we didn’t come to them lightly. We’ve put a lot of thought into this (like… alot)

Obviously they haven't put any thought into this if they considered the plethora of cons that would come out of this; name-sniping, stalking and cancellation of Nitro subs just to name a few.

The fact that they have not announced this officially on their Twitter like they usually would with any new feature but instead wrote a blog post, EDITED it after seeing the vast disapproval from users, YET still standing by the change, tells a lot about what Discord thinks of the userbase - they don't.

It looks as though Discord is ironically becoming a less desirable platform with each feature upgrade.

Just listen to the users for once.

not ONLY did they link to a random reddit post that had nothing to do with their completely bogus 40% statistic... BUT THE QUESTION BEING POSED IN THE REDDIT POST WASN'T EVEN THE SAME QUESTION THEY IMPLIED IT WAS IN THE BLOG POST

The reddit question was "what is this called"! they IMPLIED that the question was "what is this for" and that is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT QUESTION. No, not everybody knows the technical term 'discriminator,' or didn't before today. BUT THEY KNOW THE FOUR NUMBER CODE IS AN ID NUMBER.

for god's sake.

I saw someone reference what was allegedly the poll they used to get that statistic. IIRC, the question asked if people knew the name of a discriminator. My mom does not know what a discriminator is or even what a search engine is, but she is able to use both just fine.
