When the username is changed, how long does it take for the old username to be released for other people to use?

I asked my friend to keep my username with his old account, now my account get prompt, but after he changed his username to something else, my account can't change to that old username, but he still can, does anyone know how long the old username will be preserved?

    From testing it out it seems to take around a day more or less until the username is available for anyone to take

    Any update on this? I'm trying to move my username to my business account. I've seen online reports that its reserved on the old account, and that matches my experience - cant friend (so its not taken by someone else); cant change on my business account; and can change on my personal account. But for how long? I've seen 14 days. Thanks kindly!
