Concerned
Discord is rapidly treading into the enshittification territory of software. You continue to roll out unfavorable and unwelcomed changes for the sake of changes, and pretend to care about user feedback while blatantly ignoring it. You claim to have “listened” and “heard the feedback” and “will do better” to temporarily placate the negative reactions, but then never actually follow through. One example is the toggle to bring back swiping left to show online users which you promised us you “heard us” and would implement, but never did. You lack features between different platforms while adding new features locked behind a subscription paywall. Last of all, you are contributing to the destruction of the free exchange of digital information and library of solutions, fixes, resources, support, and discourse by encouraging people, groups, and businesses to use your product as a replacement for traditional means while not allowing or implementing search indexing and/or archiving, resulting in the net loss of digital knowledge.
Discord is quickly reaching the point of becoming the latest thing vulnerable to tech disruption by a new player who is frustrated by Discord’s unwillingness to appease its user base. Every day I see a little more negative opinion and chatter towards Discord and lamenting for a solution. Stop trying to be the new infinite growth tech model and start being the old Discord that took the internet by storm again.
