I can understand liking a cleaner view, but how does it make viewing roles better? If you want to see more than 3 roles then you have to click a button and still view all of them (but in a new layout that messes up servers that had them neatly set up for the old width).

I think it should be optional, something in settings to have a “collapsed" or “condensed” view, or the old style. Personally I much prefer being able to click a user and just see all the roles.

Additionally from a moderator perspective it was very useful to be able to just click a user's name and see the age of their account and how long they've been in the server. I appreciate that this still shows but I much prefer to be able to see it on the first click, as opposed to having to click a second button.

I can't disagree more with OP - the new minimised profile makes the profile useless for me. If I've put notes on an account, why do I now need to click extra buttons to see what I could at a glance previously? And further why over the years provide all this extra customisation to profiles if you're then just going to minimise and hide it so no one sees it anyway?

Definitely agree with Laura above, that there should be an option to use either Full Profile or Condensed as the default - though I think there's fair reason for this to just be tied into the existing appearance options of Cosy vs. Compact.

I'll have to disagree with mie on binding the compact profile to the compact message layout. The point of the compact layout is to maximize the amount of information displayed on the screen. The new profile UI goes against that idea.

However I do agree that the new profile UI should be reverted or bound to a new user setting.

I really don't like the minimalist view. The 190-character limit for the 'About' section is already frustrating. Why further compress the limited text you can display on your profile? It doesn't make sense. It should be expanded by default, and there should be an option in the settings for those who prefer a collapsed view.

Also, they've made changes to things like the buttons for Rich Presence. Now, you can't see the buttons on your local client—only remote users can. What sense does that make? Which UI designer at Discord thought this was a good idea?!

I think just having roles limited on someone's profile is a HUGE improvement. I used to have a problem where I was on a server and I clicked on a member's profile and they had so many roles that Discord had stretched its application to the point it just showed some extra void. I don't know how to properly explain it but its a HUGE improvement to what Discord had.

Also, I have a comment to Mie about the notes on profiles, you can hover over the user's mini profile and you will see a mini icon next to their name that shows their notes you have on their profile. It is still possible that you can click to view their whole profile to view the note.

I think the new profile UI is just overall better and I disagree with Mie entirely. Though, the option to have a compact or a condensed view is a good idea.

New profile is batter but it requires more creativity. I also use this type of profile in my website Nba Bute.

As of my last update, I don't have specific details on a Discord profile UI update for 2024. Software platforms like Discord frequently update their user interfaces to improve functionality and aesthetics, often based on user feedback and evolving design trends. For the latest information, it's best to check Discord's official announcements or their community forums where such updates are typically discussed.click here for more informaction.
