Sounds not going to selected audio device

Ive been without a PC the last 4 months or so due to a bad cpu -

 I seem to remember that my mute keybind sound used to come in the discord selected audio device (headphones) while my windows selected audio device is on my speakers, but that is not the case now

maybe im remembering wrong and it always came thru the windows selected device?

Either way, it should always only come through the discord selected device.
