    thumbs up for that, it's really painful when it happens.

    sometimes i would just alt tab and see that oh i have a lot of stuff on my screen so i just start alt+f4 left and right, mostly stuff stacked in tray so i don't care up until while i'm in a voice call and just dc out of nowhere and i won't realize anything until i get a notification on my mobile discord and see that i haven't been on the call for the past 10m ! :(
    just kindly make the alt+f4 "close to tray" not "close completly" :)

    Yes, please add a new option for this or honor the setting "close to tray" for Alt+F4 too.

    Now it's extremely bothering to me as I was using an Autohotkey workaround for this issue but it doesn't work anymore with the latest Discord update.

    Please make it work like in any other app, or make an option for this. It cannot be like that.

    It's really awful as I have a habit of closing any messenger window by Alt+F4. Today I've closed Discord a few dozens of times and every time didn't notice that I'm missing the new messages from my colleagues and our game community (I'm a game developer).

    UPD. As a workaround I found that "WinClose, A" works fine in AutoHotkey. Use it like this:

    ;to close the active window when pressing Win+Q

    #q:: WinClose, A

    Please fix this behavior. Slack does not close when Alt+F4 is pressed by  'Leave app running in notification area when window is closed' setting.

    I agree that this should be considered a bug, it's very annoying and inconsistent usability wise.

    I agree to suppose this system hotkey to tray

    I support this request and would also like the Alt+F4 keyboard combination to minimize the PC client to the Windiws tray and not to close the desktop application.

    The same happens here. Every other program I use regardless of free and opensource or closed source and paid does this natively, if it supports minimize to tray on close.

    I too am suffering with this issue and annoying people who are trying to get in contact with me.

    AutoHotKey Solution:

    1) download and install AutoHotKey
    2) Create text file (.txt)
    3) write and save:

    !F4:: WinClose, A

    4) edit .txt on .ahk
    5) RightMouseButton on file > Compile Script
    6) Move our ".exe" in C:\Users\*You*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    7) Profit!

    p.s. thx @ai_enabled

    @M4lkuth

    and you can add #NoTrayIcon to hide the *script icon* from the tray bar

    !F4:: WinClose, A
    #NoTrayIcon

    This is actually an accessibility issue for those that use the keyboard or other accessibility device due to trouble using a mouse.  More and more programs are neglecting to include these features (or neglecting the testing of accessibility or power features).

    Discord developers, please give this the attention it deserves and fix the accessibility (and power-user) divide.

    Yes, please, fix this very annoying difference in behaviour. Presing Alt-F4 is supposed to do exactly the same as the titlebar X button...

    I actually thought for a few months that Discord is silently crashing, not understanding why it sometimes disappeared...

    Yes, please add the ability to minimize it to tray on ALT+F4

    Wow, a year passed, and they didn't give a shit for such an important user request.

    Autohotkey really helps in such situation

    If my company didn't use it I would definitely move from this stupid app, hopefully to Slack or something... So many stupid things in it.

    Actually it's been 4 years this has been reported... they just don't give a shit about bugs

  • Ozzies

    Autohotkey? Do I really have to use some kind of third-party program to use discord? Sounds like some shit

    I would just like to direct everyone's attention to a bit of old news, especially for those who aren't particularly meticulous/pedantic, so y'all have this piece of info right here at the end where it's easiest to see

    PS. this is especially meant as a response to BalRoG about a day ago

    Yeah, that 'feature' is a bit annoying (although it didn't happen to me in a while now). And while it might be easy to fix, with under 50 votes I don't expect anything to happen in the near future as long as there are requests out there with more than 16000 votes. :(

    It's much more sad cause on Linux it is working fine :) :(.
