Possibility to add roles of lower precedence than @everyone.
When adding roles, I'd love there to be the ability to add roles that can be used as "tags" and are of lower precedence than the default, @everyone role.
This would allow us to add colorful tags without having the people that don't have any other role get that tag's color. It would make role color management easier.
The workaround we need to implement right now is to either make our tags color-less (grey, boring), or insert another, totally useless role of higher precedence than our tags, with a neutral grey color, and ensure with our bot that every single member gets said placeholder role.
This shouldn't be necessary.
Tags in our context are things like pronoun selection and funky group alliance selection (comparable with Hogwarts houses), but we don't want to change the previous color balance of our original role system, so that we can still have a clear overview.
well everyon is the last role lower roles wouldnt make sense1
Lower roles make sense if they are only used as tags and do not give any permissions at all.
The idea is that these tags can be colorful without them affecting the username. They just look colorful when you click on the user profile.1
Why is this in the API Section?
Also, what's wrong in having roles above the @everyone role, that are at the bottom of your role hierarchy? You can just disable all permissions and the Display role members separately from online members.
You could also use/create a Discord Bot to handle this situation. It could manage all of your tags, and users could use a command to see what tags they are.
Hope that what I say makes sense.1
Since the ability to mention roles has been added. You could also you this in a manner to @mention certain roles and group. Having roles lower than @everyone would allow users to join these groups/list on their own without the use of a bot.0
