Couldn't you just create channels per topic required? As channels are already super customizable.

Just like slack. It should be. It is so hard to understand who writen to who and mentioned to which words. “>words” copy paste action is totaly porter.

I second this! Should definitely be added. It's really annoying if you want to have somebody look at something in another channel and that channel is flooding with messages so that what you want to show them disappears, like a video you shared in that text channel or something. This would be great!

Interesting idea, but that would be weird seeing in Discord itself - it seems more like something that would fit a forums website more than anything. Sorry, but I personally don't see the purpose or need in this feature.

@SomebodyElse, the Slack function is to share a message with a comment above, but it also has threading option.

For Discord a normal Quote button as some have photoshopped nicely would be the greatest option instead of having to do it yourself by either > or >>>

It’s not a terrible idea. It is a feature in Slack and it rarely gets used even in workspaces with 20-30k members. I think if they did do that, they would be holding off on it as it would be a lower priority.

do you mean being able to write a message and then someone being able to reddit style reply to it?

They have added quoting (you can use > or >>> for multi-line) but not to this extent.

This is already a thing, just do "> text" in chat
