I also suggest calling the higher tier plan "Nitro 999" because I think it sounds cool and $9.99 is too much effort to type.

Nitro Classic: Universal Name Color

  • Includes DMs and all popup profiles.
  • Can override role colors in servers, if the server allows it.
  • Possible server role options to accommodate for this addition: give admins some control by including a new option for each role to disallow Nitro users from overriding the color of the role. Also, add options for Nitro users to allow them to choose whether or not they want to override their name color in a given server (or in ANY servers).

Nitro Classic or 999: Universal Personal Role

  • Purely aesthetic; serves no functional purpose as a normal role would. Customizable role name, basically. Lots of people in small servers use roles for social things like jokes anyway, and this offers another way for people to personalize their paid account in a way that integrates with existing features.
  • Displays as the first or last role in servers; displays in popup profile in DMs and other places where roles would normally be shown.
  • May be associated with a name color (re: above option) but doesn't have to be.
  • Highlighted with a gold background or something? (to make it distinct so people can't masquerade as server admins to the uncritical eye)
  • Could also be listed on a separate line below server roles, or above them.

    sounds like it's a big task for the servers to handle it? Plus, it just feels a little extra

    I cannot imagine it being a bigger task than custom emojis inherently are. These are incredibly lightweight cosmetic perks that build on existing Discord features to give paying users a little more customization and benefits for supporting Discord financially. And...I mean, Discord Nitro already allows people to change their ID#, which is also pretty extra. There's nothing wrong with that.

    Isn't the entire point of nitro to be extra?  We're given a super minor # change at the end of our names, the ability to use animated emoji, and an animated avatar.  What isn't extra about that?

    I'd love a name color because it matters more than an animated avatar...  Plus no more basic white names everywhere.

    I would agree mostly with this idea... Here are my thoughts and ideas

     

    I dont think it should affect servers because role colors could mean things (Admin's and Mods have a color e.c.t) but if there was a setting that allows this or disallows it then i see no issue should this feature be added

     

    I do think this being something that affects DMs could be awesome since white names in DM's gets boring

    I don't think that's necessary, and besides, it might take a lot of servers to handle such feature like this one, probably.
