Emojis before hitting shift + enter

PC, Linux Mint OS

Hitting shift + enter right after writing :D or :( and similar characters will result in said characters not turning into their respective emojis. Pressing space before hitting shift + enter can solve the problem.

It is just a minor inconvenience, my purpose of posting it is to simply let you know about this. Seeing it fixed would be appreciated, but pressing space before breaking the line is easy to get used to too.
