Renderer not responding on MacOS
The Discord render process always eventually crashes. Discord window seems normal though.

Hi there,
I don't work for Discord but I suggest opening a Support Ticket so they can more effectively address your concern. You can do so here: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Have a great day!

Hi,
I am having the same issue no matter what I do. Anyone find a fix yet?
Thank you!

did you open a support ticket?

The problem seems to be hardcoded path where it looks for installed games :) if you simply create that path "DiscordGames" in side Applications it should be solved
How to:
1. Open Terminal
2. write: mkdir /Applications/DiscordGames <enter>
3. write: chmod 777 /Applications/DiscordGames <enter>9 -
opa
Thanks, but that didn't help.

Same issue for me. MacBook Pro 2017 os 10.14.6

Did you open a support ticket?
They will probably just ignore the bug until more people complain.

yeah opened a ticket earlier

yep some problem
10.15.7 (19H2)

opa's solution worked for me. I just made the folder DiscordGames in Applications using finder instead of Terminal. Quit discord and it fixed it upon restart.

for me, Discord needs to be open for some time before the process stops responding.

I just installed Discord on my Macbook Pro 13 last night to play LOL with some friends and it caused havoc on my machine. Normally I can play LOL at native resolution and max settings with smooth 60fps but with Discord open it caused my computer to slow, caused LOL to hang a few times, caused the game window to freeze at the end of the game when it was going back to the client and even made the game stutter down to 1fps at times. The "Discord Helper (Renderer)" was also Not Responsive on my computer and closing discord and reopening didn't fix the slowness of my computer. I tried restaring my computer and things got back to being smooth for a while but eventually went slow again. I have played LOL for hours in the past with no issues but the minute I installed Discord it just destroyed my gaming experience. I would uninstall it but all my friends are chatting on there... Please fix it, Discord.

G’day Joe, I opened a ticket with them earlier today. Still no response.

Upgrading to macOS Big Sur rn. Maybe that will resolve the issue. 🙏🏻

I am actually going to discontinue using Discord. It is slowly cooking my macbook to death. I paid way too much money for this computer to kill it with some half baked software.

Here is a response I received from Discord Support. None of these options worked for me, but maybe they will work for someone else.

Hi there,
Thanks for writing back and for sharing your input!
Sadly, our team is still working on it and we still don't have a definite fix. However, can you try temporarily disabling your firewalls and virus scanners, and any other form of security/antivirus/AdBlock software, then, follow the steps below in reinstalling the app and see if it helps?
1) Open Finder and click Go in the Menubar
2) Click Go to Folder
3) Type ~/Library/Application Support and delete the Discord folder in the window that appears
4) Click Go to Folder again
5) Type /Library/Application Support and delete the Discord folder here as well (if there is one present)
6) Drag Discord to your Trash
7) Empty your Trash
8) Redownload Discord.
If that doesn't work, can you try this version of the desktop client to see if it helps? https://discordapp.com/api/download/canary?platform=osx
If all else fails, can you run a scan of your computer for any viruses, malware, etc using Malwarebytes > clear threats > restart computer > relaunch Discord? You can grab Malwarebytes right here: https://www.malwarebytes.com/0 -
Yeah that's just the standard 1st response to every issue they receive.
I've communicated with people further up the food chain, and the response was that they're working on it, and there isn't an ETA. It was already a known issue when I reported it back in May, so ... I'm not holding my breath.

I sent a ticket and I recived the same message. I saw I don't have any folder called Discord in /Library/Application Support, and in ~/Library/Application Support there's a folder called discord istead of Discord.

I also see what Law stated.
