NFTs? Seriously?

I was considering re-subscribing to nitro, but then I hear you're gonna start supporting NFTs? First off, a decent amount of those are stollen artwork, something I, as a creator, can NOT endorse. Second, they're bought and sold using crypto. Crypto, a currency system whose data mining uses so much electricity, that any and all bounds we've made towards clean energy are a moot point; aka, cryptocurrency data mining uses as much electricity as the united states produces from green energy TOTAL, which means whatever coal-burning we'd reduced with clean energy, is once again being increased to meet electricity demands from data farms.

We are less than two months away from 2022, which means we have eight short years to cut ALL emissions unless we want to reach a point of no return in climate change. For a timeframe on that, children born this year will be in second grade when we reach this critical point. I, a senior in college (majoring in marine sciences and conservation) who's planning on going to grad school, will only have been in the workforce for about five years.

There is no TIME to push off action against climate change any longer, and for a company with a strong history of protecting its users' rights and sticking up to large monopolies, I would have thought you'd do better caring about actual people, and not a made-up currency system peddling stolen art.

I'm disappointed.

(Besides, I'm still a child of the internet, and I still firmly believe that all information should be free, artists should be paid for their work, and major monopolies SHOULD be stolen from. I don't care if it's a philosophy straight out of the 90's and 2000's. It was right. Do with that what you will, and to h*ll with NFTs).
