Against NFT/crypto integration
I was planning to purchase Discord Nitro this month but will now be delaying that until I see a commitment from Discord to cancel their planned integration of cryptocurrency, including NFTs, into the platform. NFTs are hugely damaging to the environment and I cannot in good conscience support any organisation that incorporates them into their business model. Enjoy hosting my servers for free for the foreseeable future, because I will give you money when the Northwest Passage freezes back over.

I won't even bother researching for you because these false narratives have already been engrained in your mind by central bankers and mass media so I can't really make you see the light. but one day you will discover it. Remember to look back on this day and think how dumb it was to dismiss the most life-changing technology of your life.

str8out genuinely, the blockchain uses an unconscionable amount of energy. i could power my apartment for two years on the energy it takes to create a single NFT. it's an ecological cost we can't afford. and for what? what benefit do NFTs actually bring? what benefit does crypto have beyond previously being untraceable - which, a) isn't even true any more with the new crackdowns and b) isn't even unique? I could make an untraceable payment right now by walking to the newsagents and buying a newspaper with some spare change. just because it's new and disruptive doesn't mean it's beneficial.

I've long enjoyed the perks of nitro (particularly cross server emojis and animated pfps) and I'm very sad to lose these benefits. But I must do what is right to lead our planet in the right direction
