Forum - move post to another forum channel
I am running a discord server for a game engine & recently we got access to the forum feature.
So far I've setup 4 forum channels & the members have started getting used to them, however every now & then a member will post in the wrong forum channel - usually because they can't be bothered to read the forum channel summary or the pinned read me thread. It would be really useful if admins & moderators were allowed to move posts into other forum channels.
Some other features I would like to see are:
- Replace the uncollapsed followed forum threads & regular channel threads with some kind of icon to notify us that we have unread posts in followed threads (optionally with a dynamic number to show us we have x unread total posts in x followed threads), as I find the uncollapsed thread list so messy & it hurts my OCD brain - I'm sure plenty of other people feel the same way.
- ability to lock threads or set permissions per thread (admin & moderators only). Currently I believe it just archives the thread if you lock it.
- bullet points in forum replies & regular channels (seems to only currently be possible in initial post by adding a - at the beginning of a new line).
- ability to prevent people from adding additional reactions, currently if you prevent people from adding reactions it also hides the default reaction too unless a moderator or admin +1s it.
I think that's it, though I have a feeling I'm forgetting something, oh well...
Regards,
Lee.
* edit: Actually, I just remembered that admins & moderators have access to the active threads popup. Something like that would be perfect, but instead of all active threads it just shows you active threads you are following that have unread messages in them.

I've seen posts on this that are *years* old requesting this. No idea why, but Discord doesn't seem to want to implement this very basic functionality.
Admins should be able to move things like threads to different channels, or relocate posts.

I don't know what their reasons are for it, or how their minds work, but I also just realized earlier that either I'm blind or there's no "go to top" button to jump back up to the initial post of the forum thread. It let's you pin it, but you have to do it manually, whereas I think it should do that automatically or at least add a "go to top" button on the sticky bar that contains the reactions, follow button, & link button.

Ability for moderators to move forum "posts" to other forums is essential for making a forum actually work. Not having this ability is a total dealbreaker for my communities. Its a basic forum feature.

As we start to use this feature on our server to replace some slower channels, I also would like a means to move posts between multiple forums, rather than just locking and telling them to move what might be a healthy conversation to the right place,

the forum feature is new to the discord app. hopefully as more servers adopt it, the need for this basic feature will become too much to ignore.
until then, i can manually transfer posts and pics even (my server has only 200 members)0 -
Some things I am basically begging for with forums:
1.) Let moderators delete the message that pop up in the post chat when you edit it. Ex.
"Moderator changed the post title: examplename456"
and
"Moderator removed ExampleUser123 from the thread."
it clutters the post and it's so unnecessary.
2.) Make it so multiple posts can be pinned in a forum. Why is this not already a thing?
3.) Let moderators sort posts the same way we can with channels.5 -
Massive upvote to this. Sometimes people make forum posts somewhere without really thinking too much and they would be better suited to a different forum channel. It's very frustrating because at the moment we just have to delete them and start all over again, or have a terribly thought out organisation forever.

I would to see this as a feature along with being able to move threads between servers. I am a part of a server I want to leave -- but there are some threads I'd like to move with me because its an RP thread of me and one other character/person and they're on the server I want to move it to anyway... but I digress... being able to not only download the thread for personal read back, or to move it to another server with out losing everything would be nice. One thread in particular is over 6k messages.

Looking into this, it's currently possible to create a new thread in a forum channel using POST/channels/{channel.id}/threads, but there is no way to PATCH it after it has been created. What's interesting to me is that a link to a thread inside of a forum does not actually reference the forum's channel_id anywhere in the message link, so it seems to imply that Discord was aware that associating a forum's thread with the specific channel_id was a bad idea. There absolutely is a framework already in place to support moving threads between forum channels, so hopefully we'll get to see this happen at some point.

I am approving this, it is not possible to have a good organization without moving topic. People always does mistakes.

I don't know what this isn't front and center on the community features page. This is some of the most basic moderation that happens in a forum.
"Hey man you posted this in the wrong channel but it's okay I can move it for you so that everybody else can find it in the correct spot."
Aside from behavior issues this is probably the number one task that a moderator would need to do.

Many individuals in South Africa often turn to the SASSA Status Check to monitor their application progress. Whether it's a general SASSA Status or a more specific query like the SASSA Status Check for R350 grants, people rely heavily on these updates. Moreover, for those who face challenges or discrepancies, the SASSA Appeal process becomes crucial. It's essential to stay informed, especially when dealing with financial assistance. The intricacies of SDR SASSA and the various nuances of SASSA SRD further emphasize the importance of understanding and navigating the system effectively.

SRD status check online allows individuals or organizations to verify the current status of their Security Research Device (SRD) application or registration electronically through a designated online platform. This service offers convenience and efficiency, enabling users to quickly access information regarding their SRD application, including approval status, pending actions, or any updates. By accessing the SRD status check online, users can stay informed about the progress of their SRD application without the need for manual inquiries or paperwork, streamlining the process and providing transparency.

Why is this not a feature yet?

Absolutely support this. I'm currently moving an actual forums into a discord server and the lack of basic forum features such as moving posts is really hindering the full integration into discord.

Sounds like you've got some great ideas for improving the Discord forum experience!
It's frustrating when users post in the wrong channels, and having more control over thread management would definitely be helpful. The idea of a cleaner way to track followed threads is a great one too – that uncollapsed list can be overwhelming.

I've recently started using Forum channels on my community server to replace a web forum that's shutting down, and was shocked that there's no way for admins or mods to move a post from one forum to another. In our case we have a common workflow that will involve moving a good number of threads among categories over time. I really want to migrate all our web forum users to Discord and they are used to having working forums. Please add this basic, essential functionality. It is an important and standard feature for all forums.
