Discord Voice Channels Disconnect on Xbox When User Is Moved
I submitted this report to customer service and their replies were infuriating as their suggestions were all for problems that I clearly wasn't taking about. This issue affects users who are connecting to Discord from their Xbox. It may also affect PS5 users, but that is in beta testing, so I haven't been able to confirm.
Basically, anytime a bot or moderator moves a Discord user who is on Xbox from one channel to another, it completely disconnects them and they have to manually rejoin the channel, but only after their party chat freezes and keeps them in silent limbo for a while before the disconnect finally happens and their console allows them to rejoin a channel.
For moderation purposes, such as removing someone from a voice channel for being obnoxious, this is not such a big deal. However, it is problematic for a number of other reasons. Hundreds of thousands of servers use dynamic channels where you join the parent channel and it makes you your own secondary channel and moves you to it. For example, I join the Raids channel and it creates Raids #1 for me and moves me there. Someone else who is going to raid with a different group joins the parent Raids and it makes Raids #2 for them and moves them there. Well, as a console user (as I am sure this may end up affecting PS5 as well), if you join the parent channel, you will get frozen and then disconnected when the bot moves you to the secondary channel, and by the time you unfreeze and can try to rejoin the secondary channel, the bot has likely already deleted it unless someone else also joined before you got kicked. Most dynamic voice channel bots are made to delete the secondary/temporary voice channels under the parent as soon as the count reaches 0.
In any other instance of Discord, from mobile to PC to Mac, you stay connected and can immediately talk upon being relocated to a different voice channel. This needs to happen on Discord for consoles too. Sadly, I tried contacting Discord support, but they were woefully dense in trying to help me troubleshoot my problem. The first reply told me to check my VPN, router, modem, etc, if I was disconnecting from voice channels. I replied back even more in depth stating that no disconnects were happening when a mod or bot was not attempting to relocate the user and it only occurs when someone moves a user on console to another channel. I talked about how they must have misunderstood my original message. I was met with a reply that said they were sorry I was having trouble with my microphone. What?!
Hopefully it is clear to everyone here that this is happening to all users on console when someone else attempts to move them from one channel to another, not when they themselves join a different channel on their own.
