Revert multi-image upload mosaic view
The issue with the mosaic view is that it makes it more difficult to actually view an image. To see a full picture uploaded in a batch, I now have to click on the image and use the image carousel to scroll sideways through the gallery.
Viewing an image is one click, whereas before it used to be zero clicks. Viewing each successive image is an additional click (or press of an arrow key), where previously, it would have been zero clicks, and it's harder to compare two images sent in succession which were intended to be compared.
Skipping past an image or looking back up at something that the image pushed out of sight was and still is a simple flick of the scroll wheel, swipe of the screen, or gesture on the trackpad.
This is a net increase in user work. If this came as an effort to cut down on spam, it's a wrongheaded way to go about that. You cut down on spam by limiting the rate of images per a given timespan by a user (akin to the rate limits on servers in slowmode, which are optional and configurable), not by allowing people to spam and just compressing that spam into a mosaic.
Now it's harder to verify if an image is even spam in the first place, since so much of it is cropped away.
Scrolling is cheap. It requires a less precise interface action than clicking on something, since scrolling applies to the entire chat pane. Clicking requires more accuracy, and it interrupts reading flow when a conversation involves the exchange of and commentary upon images.
Other chat services (e.g. Slack) have this feature, and it's among the many reasons why I don't like to use those services. If this feature must exist, then it should be optional (toggled in the same menu as other chat layout options, preferably), but otherwise, I would say revert it. Discord should be allowed to be its own animal, rather than aping the inferiorities of its competitors.

This is gorgeously worded, and i wholeheartedly agree. It's like they just used "spam" as an excuse to enforce this feature while the real reason was just another step towards conforming to other social apps.

Spam??? Well think about all the Spam and inappropriate content we can now hind on the sides of images and Mods wont check every image so it's a perfect feature for bots to harness and will completely ruin the Discord experience.
Also think of how long it will take to locate a image in your server if it gets DMCA??kes!!!7 -
Sorting out the image scaling / cropping (pad images instead of cropping) would suffice as well
An option on the Discord App to opt out of Mosaic preview would be nice too, then everyone can view it the way they like it2
