Two small text chat features, but everyone needs this.
Feature #1
- Ability to select multiple messages.
-
Hold Left-Click 1s/1.5s.
(make it adjustable, maybe also remapable to keyboard keys?)
--> Discord goes in a selection modus with tickboxes.
-
ESCAPE-key
--> Discord exits selection modus.
In Selection Modus
- Left-Click
--> select messages.
(and a tick will appear in the tickbox)
(don't need to click exactly in the tickbox just need to click a message)
Feature #2
- Edit message with F2
- F2-key
---When one message selected, F2-key like in Windows (rename folder/file) (in Discord's case "edit message")
(now you need to click the small edit (pencil) icon all the time.)

1) The only thing I can think of for this, is for removing them, specifically for moderation, which, then this is maybe fair? If they're recent, and problematic, it's probably a better idea to "soft ban" the user (ban, remove messages from past X time units, unban). If you're removing messages you sent, I got nothin', your own data to manage quite frankly.
2) So, you.. can actually do this. If you've ever hit tab to navigate the UI, you can scroll up to select a message. If you're moving the mouse and want this.. You're already moving the mouse, but if you want to move the mouse even less, you can right click to open that menu, which has "Edit message" option.

So, you're suggesting a new feature for Discord that would allow users to select multiple messages. To activate this feature, users could hold down the left-click button for 1-1.5 seconds (which could be customizable and remappable to keyboard keys). When the feature is activated, Discord would enter a selection mode with tickboxes. Users could then select messages by left-clicking on them. To exit the selection mode, users could press the ESCAPE key.
Did I understand your suggestion correctly?

You're proposing an innovative feature for Discord: a multi-message selection mode. By holding down the left-click button for 1-1.5 seconds (customizable and remappable to keyboard shortcuts), users would activate this feature, entering a selection mode with checkboxes. This would allow users to select multiple messages simply by left-clicking on them. Exiting the selection mode would be as easy as pressing the ESCAPE key.
To further enhance user experience and engagement, this feature could support actions like batch deletion, bulk reactions, or forwarding selected messages to another chat. Adding such capabilities would streamline many common tasks and significantly improve productivity on Discord. This feature would be especially useful for community managers and power users who handle large volumes of messages regularly.

Wow, these features would be game-changers for Discord! Feature #1: The ability to select multiple messages at once would save so much time, especially in busy servers or group chats. I love the idea of entering a selection mode with a simple hold-click. Making it adjustable and remappable to keyboard keys is a nice touch for accessibility and customization. This would make bulk actions like deleting, pinning, or reacting to messages much more efficient. Feature #2: Editing messages with the F2 key is genius! It’s such a familiar shortcut for anyone used to working with files and folders. This would make the editing process so much smoother, especially for quick corrections. No more hunting for that tiny pencil icon! Overall, these suggestions are both practical and user-friendly. I hope Discord takes notice and considers implementing them. Great ideas, Wizz!
