Swipe Reply Disable/Enable Feature

Hello, I commented earlier, but I'd like to add some good news about this update!
YOU CAN STILL SWIPE TO THE MEMBERS TAB AFTER THE UPDATE!
They made it still a bit frustrating, but the swipe is still possible. Simply swipe the other direction first, and then, mid-swipe without letting go, THEN swipe to the member list!
It'll still take time to get this into muscle memory, but at the very least, it's still pretty accessible. Either way, though, they should still have an option to toggle this feature off.
I've talked with discord support, and at first, they tried to tell me this feature doesn't exist. It took several messages back and forth, but EVENTUALLY they admitted to implementing the feature, and told me thst there was no way to turn it off. The support team was pretty useless here, and seemingly, their goal is to make users feel stupid, instead of helping us

I don't get why a simple toggle was impossible to implement considering how much of an annoying feature this is.
Please add a toggle.

I just got this update on my phone, and after I realized what happened the first thing I did was go look for the setting to turn it off, only to find out it doesn't exist. I use the side swipe to view members _all the time_, and I hardly ever use replies. Don't make us relearn muscle memory, add a toggle.

double tap for reply would be fine but swiping must show the member list.

Being able to disable the swipe to reply feature would be greatly appreciated

In addition to all of the great reasons folks have already given for why this is a bad feature, it also is annoying for just scrolling on mobile, as it will sometimes trigger a reply to a random comment if my thumb swipe wasn't vertical enough. I have no use for this feature when long press is right there.

Not sure what happened, I didn't even update the app but the swipe for users is working now, no more swipe to reply in my app

Hmm, it was good for a few hours then it was back to swipe to reply. Very sad

this is abysmal and why I refuse to update the app on my phone . I didn't even realize that it did this until it surprised me on the ipad because I neglected to turn off automatic updates. it's painful and stupid that I have to make sure an update is safe before allowing the app to update because there is absolutely no care given to people with disabilities or for basic functionality (IE, the issue where you couldn't select the gallery app for files they removed for over a year and rhe thread had a little happy birthday message for it.)
please make this "feature" optional , I can't even begin to see why this was even implemented in the first place. foe a communication app you sure don't communicate updates well at all to the people who need to know. as an admin for several communities this makes the app very difficult for me to use on the Ipad and thank god I didn't update my phone yet so at least one mobile device still has the full functionality I need.
please don't let this issue get to a full year anniversary before fixing it.

Hello again! My Discord mobile just updated yesterday and I am extremely unhappy. Once again, I have a swipe to reply feature that interferes with my ingrained user experience that I have come to love. I don't understand why they keep trying to change it. "Don't fix it if it ain't broke".
Seeing the members list is way more important than replying to a message for me. I constantly check who is online to invite to games and etc. I vary very rarely use the reply feature so I would like the option to turn the dumb swipe reply thing off so my experience stays how I want it. Discord is adding lots of custom things, but can't add a toggle on/off for this feature so we can customize our UI???? I just don't understand, and it is unbelievably frustrating to be using it normal one day, and have a severely disliked and unwanted feature thrown at your face the next.
If you also dislike this feature and would like it removed or at the very least toggleable, please please please send them a feedback message, a help and support email asking help to change it, anything that will let them know we would like the ability to have the old interface available. Hopefully if enough people say something, MAYBE they'll care enough to listen and help.
This is just so unbelievably frustrating and disappointing. The most important thing about UI/UX is the USERS interface/experience and so far with this feature, mine has been pretty awful. And it seems like from all the comments and votes, others are having an awul time as well.
I sent an email begging them to remove the bug (since it previously got so much negative feedback and they didn't mention it in the update, it has to be a bug…. Right??) I'll post an update if I can get them to fix mine or at least reset the app to the previous version.

Update: I got an email back from support after asking them to please help me turn off the feature or help me reverse the update on my app, and all they basically said was a copy and pasted message of “leave us feedback so we know what our community wants”, and "sorry we don't have a work-around”
I really really hope they fix it where you can toggle it off, because they've just upheaved years of user experience. I do understand that some people may like swipe to reply since other apps may use it, and a toggle would be such a great option for both sides to be happy.
