New Username Policy Is Not "Easier"
This is going to lead to so, so much money being lost.
Don't care if you're being forced to do this by your investors. It's the stupidest decision you've made yet, and so so many people are going to cancel their Nitro subscriptions when this comes out (or even now, as you proudly announce the worst decision you've ever made).
Namesniping is going to become a common theme. As this rolls out to the oldest users first, who I 100% guarantee you have changed their username over ten times as they aged and grew, people will choose their current usernames.. And then get tired of them. But when they want to change them? Too fucking bad! Someone else got that one first! You have to type your username like "Xx_*usernamehere*_xX999" instead of your age-old "usernamehere" because Discord made a stupid decision!
So many people love this platform because of the unique usernames, and the fact that you can make your username ANYTHING--discriminators make sure of that. What you're doing will reduce your example of 9,999 "Mike"s to just 1--Good idea, guys!
Along with namesniping comes account selling. Good job guys, this update actually makes you LESS money, as all that money--guess what--is going to go to assholes who sell accounts, instead of Nitro subs lining your pockets! With your actually not that great security measures, hacking accounts and stealing them is going to become MORE common as people vie for cool, unique names, and cracked accounts are going to go for HUNDREDS, even just to recover them to the original user. Plus, those accounts could then be used to widely slander and impersonate people, including celebrities and widely known community admins.
By the way, your "stats" are bullshit--40% is the minority, y'all, I don't know if you know that!!
Nobody wants this. Nobody asked for it, and nobody will embrace this update without a fight.
