The edit on clarifying the rollout process for new usernames is not helping your case
If the bombardment of posts on this forum isn't enough to show you what a horrible idea this is, your doubling down by editing the original post does not help. What part of your team thinks that the username-picking process is the problem? Countless posts here have listed the other issues with this new course of action, and honestly getting the username we want is one of the least concerning issues compared to concerns of spam, identifying users, uniqueness to Discord, other moderator issues, and a few others.
Discord, tear down this username change!
(also highly recommend people refer to the megapost to give more feedback, +1 votes, and keep it active, just to show how much this sucks)

They should have made some sort of announcement or notice to all users with providing some transparency to that edit at the very least. They can't expect people to see the blog post again anytime soon, especially where people are already very frustrated and fed up with what's going on. They actually have the audacity to leave it up to the community to figure it all out and play their little cat and mouse game.
What a perfect and sound way to handle all of this.

Ty for linking the megapost! You're absolutely right. +1
also Ephenia - heres the thing, they don't WANT anybody to know. they still haven't made a twitter thread about it as far as I can tell. They're trying not to address it because it's such a hated idea and they want to pretend like they're right and people want it.

Ephenia That is what I find most upsetting, they haven't communicated at all since then. They don't even care how distressing it is for people to lose their identity, because they were never at risk of losing theirs.
