I do not want to engage with a black market for my username

The upcoming change to usernames is horrible. "We know this is like other apps, and thats the point" is what you wrote on the discord announcement page and I have never read a more worrying, out of touch statement in a while. The reason Discord has been so great over the years is because it is not like other apps. Until now Discord as a company and platform had been doing all the right things that put customer and accessibility over making a profit, with this upcoming change Discord will be creating a black market for usernames as everyone scrambles to get the name they had... or the more likely option trolls will grab common and popular usernames to sell and then this platform will "defiantly feel like the other apps". I do not care about my display name, I am exclusively talking about usernames. It is even more of a gutpunch doing this type of change after the platform has worked fine this way for years, the post going into detail about why the change is being made is completely out of touch with how Discord users use the application. No one finds the current system difficult and obtrusive, if this change actually goes through, then out of principle I will never give Discord another cent of my money, no more nitro, no more anything.

Don't wait - cancel nitro NOW and tell them this is why. Prove to them you WILL take away your monetary support instead of just saying you might.

They need to feel the loss in money before they'll act.
