Username Update

I've been using discord for years, even though it may not look like it. through this, I know that The username Update in my opinion would ruin the uniqueness discord has. The fact of having hashtag and numbers at the end of your username is what to me, makes discord feel like discord. I see good reasons for it, but the solution is out of pocket and I don't see how it would make the community happier with the service. Mainly because most people can't stick with one username. It's also understandable if it's make adding other people easier, but creating a custom made tag using nitro has made that easier in itself anyway. Leaving the username system be, but going forward with a display name alone would entirely fix this issue of identifying people. If discord becomes like every other social platform, it won't be the place it once was for gamers and communities to come together. Please listen to the community on this one, going through with this removes one of the aspects discord has that makes it unique. Everyone that knows of this update is upset, and regardless of the reasons, don't understand why because there much easier ways to fix this. If you want complex, doing this isn't complex, discord is complex and fine the way it is now.

    i fully agree things should stay the way they are. it keeps discord unique from other apps of its kind and give users the freedom to represent themselves as they see fit. ive used my name for years but know there are many others that use it as well that have had it longer. so i will loose it to them as they get first choice. i find this unexceptable and will get as many discord users and groups to also voice there opinion on this as well. hope disdord is willing to loose at least 50% OF THERE CURRENT CLIENT BASE TO OTHER LIKE APPS OVER THIS.

    Discord appears to be trying to become Twitter. According to glassdoor reviews, they keep hiring in ex-google, ex-facebook, etc employees in an attempt to be more like them. So, you know, that's GREAT. Discord no longer cares to be unique. They care to be profitable. Pull your nitro sub and take that profit away.

    If they do go through with it? Swap to some other client, like Revolt or Guilded. I especially recommend Revolt, as it looks VERY similar to old Discord before it got bloated and bogged down with features nobody wanted.

    if it helps at all, include the fact that it would drop the amount of privacy discord has by a ton, completely ruining the system of sending friend requests and making it a whole lot easier for someone to stalk you.
