Japanese language setting breaks Greek and Cyrillic scripts?

It seems that on the desktop app or browser, when set to Japanese language specifically, Greek and Cyrillic characters display in some weird centered-monospaced font, and accents fall on the wrong letters.

On any other language setting, or on the mobile app, text would display like normal:

However, on the desktop app in Japanese, and similarly on the browser, it would display as such:

I recognize this probably would not affect most people, but I love messing around with languages, so I saw it and found it curious. And annoying.
