Lost Connection Screen....why?

I don't see a point in having a screen that makes the application COMPLETELY inaccessible  when losing connection. Would really be nice to still be able to read the messages that have already been loaded in prior to the disconnection. It's especially annoying when connection is lost midway through writing a message, and having it potentially lost.

A simple notification displaying in the chat like every other social application would be a lot better.
