keybindings for better accessability/navigation, ideally vim-inspired
There was a similar suggestion raised for this about two years ago* but I'd like to expand on it a bit.
It is currently possible to navigate Discord using the alt+arrow keyboard shortcuts, but these aren't ideal because they still require hand movement to get to the arrow keys (so you may as well be using the mouse anyway) and for many hands/keyboard will still require two hands, which is a potential accessibility issue.
A potential solution to this is to introduce a configurable keyboard shortcut to put Discord into a "highlight" mode which is how many accessibility programs function, similar also to vim's "normal" mode. in such a mode, the current channel would be highlighted, and the user could use direction keys to move the highlight, selecting different channels, servers, etc.
For someone like me this would be a convenience (I would want to set the activation key to escape and navigation keys to hjkl to get the Vim setup), but if made as configurable as possible, this would allow for much greater accessibility: users or input devices that are limited in their ability to manipulate a mouse or press multiple keys simultaneously would still be able to (for example) join voice channels, which could be a very positive feature overall.
I suspect in its current form, users with cerebral palsy or other difficulties would struggle to use this platform, so this is a chance to provide a feature that both users like myself and users like them would find valuable.
