With the change to use unique usernames, people will be wanting to get accounts with unique or special usernames and will be more than willing to go to extreme lengths to do so. In order to prevent those would-be actors from being able to exploit logins for such accounts, having the use of YubiKeys as a second factor of authentication would make it exponentially more difficult for them.
