Can't swap username to other account

Aside from the usual spiel that I and others have been saying (i.e. this outdated username system is terrible, please change it back to the denominators), I'm having an issue where I can't swap my username to my other account.

So, I have two accounts: my private/personal account and my art/commissions account. I made sure to claim my art username for my private one as a placeholder to make sure I didn't lose it while waiting for my art account to get the name change prompt.

My art account got the name change prompt so I changed my private account to a different username to free up my art account's username. 

I go back onto my art account to change my username to the one I just relinquished on my private account and it said it was taken. (No. It's not. I literally just relinquished it.)

So it's like, okay, it might be a delay.

Except, 40m+ later, Discord is still saying that the username I relinquished is still taken.

Is there an actual delay, or is this new system just one of those "if a username was used once, it's gone for good," type deal?

 

Edit, I just made sure no one else had taken it while trying to swap names. It's still available:

    Checked again today, and it still says it's not available when it is available. So, I don't think it's a delay issue.

    same issue with me. i assumed i probably needed to wait 24hrs or somthing but still no luck unfortunatly.

    update: username became available a little over the 24hr for me. so its possible to claim a relinquised username, you just gotta wait like a day or so after changing it. hope you get it!
