Separate video codec [AV1] encoding and decoding as 2 options instead of 1 option to handle Video codec [AV1] Streaming?
The official state that:
AV1 video codec: If the hardware requirements are met, enabling AV1 video codec will allow you to send videos in AV1 format. To utilize this feature, all viewers on the same voice call must enable AV1 codec. Additionally, when an AV1 video is sent, Discord will use your GPU for video processing.
That means if you watch the stream that encodes AV1, you need to enable that option in order to decode the AV1 stream. If you want to stream without AV1 encoding. you need to disable that option.
My question is why not separate these options as 2 options [encoding and decoding] instead of 1 option to handle it? For example, RTX 30 series can handle the AV1 decoding but not the encoding. If you Stream with an AV1 encoder using RTX 30 Series. It may cause some Stream issues such as stream stutter problems. So you may need to disable that option. But if you watch the Stream with AV1. you need to enable that option in order to gain some advantages of AV1.
I also hope H.264 separates one option into 2 options [encoding and decoding]
