Harriette#0001 It's a Latin letter like a or b. Just not so common. Though common enough to change some lines of code.

Unfortunately, special characters are no longer allowed in usernames since the rollout of the terrible pomelo username system, only a-z, 0-9, and periods or underscores…

Some Alias Here The new username system should be removed completely but if they have to keep it, they got to accept that þ is a normal letter and not a special character

I agree, the old system was far superior. I was one of the lucky ones who got my preferred username out of the update, but I still loathe the new system and want it reverted.

Back to the topic at hand though, the character you're mentioning is part of Old English, and mostly used in non-American languages. Thus, because Discord operates exclusively on modern American English for their new username system, the symbol in question is considered a special character (even if it is a Latin symbol like our regular A and B), and likely won't be usable outside of the Display Name feature.
