Introducing an Advanced Moderation Tool: Expanding AutoMod's Capabilities on Discord
First, let me introduce myself. My name on the platform is yeyoo_xd. I am an administrator and co-founder of the largest Spanish-speaking art and animation community.
Discord's AutoMod is a built-in feature that helps server administrators and moderators maintain a safe and friendly environment within their communities. It is an automated moderation tool that uses artificial intelligence and algorithms to detect and filter inappropriate or unwanted content in text messages.
AutoMod works by configuring custom rules and filters set by server administrators. These rules include words or phrases that are considered offensive, discriminatory, spam, malicious links, and other types of unwanted content. AutoMod continuously scans the text messages sent on the server, and when a match is found with any of the established rules, predefined actions are taken.
Before the introduction of AutoMod on Discord, server administrators and moderators had to employ manual methods to block unwanted words or phrases.
Discord is an online communication and community platform that aims to provide a safe and positive environment for its users. However, like any online platform, there may be servers or communities with negative intentions or promoting inappropriate behavior.
It is important to note that Discord has policies and guidelines in place to prohibit harmful or malicious activities. Discord prohibits activities such as harassment, bullying, illegal content, hate speech, and other forms of harmful behavior.
Discord encourages users to report any server or content they deem inappropriate or in violation of community guidelines. Discord's moderation teams review and take action against servers that violate the established policies.
This is why I am writing today. This automatic moderation system lacks a very basic and mandatory feature: blocking external emojis or stickers.
Discord Nitro subscription offers users several advantages, one of which is the ability to send and use external emojis and stickers on servers.
I propose that AutoMod has a function to block unwanted emojis and stickers that are in other servers, which may offend the sensibilities of our users and violate the platform's policies and guidelines.
It could be located in the same configuration as custom keyword filtering or something similar. It would work the same way, simply by entering the ID of the emoji or sticker, which can be extracted using moderation bots. Once added to the list, the emoji or sticker could be displayed in parentheses next to the ID for easy identification.
We know that we can restrict the use of external emojis or stickers to specific roles. However, I don't understand why we can't block the ones we want, especially if they violate the platform's rules.
I and the community of administrators, developers, and content creators will appreciate this feature. Feedback and suggestions from users like you play an important role in improving platforms like Discord. If you have any other ideas or suggestions, feel free to share them.

blocking emojis is like training an ai to draw a cat eaten by a mice and this is strange because if you tried to block an emoji you need to block its id as you said right? but it's easy to bypass by just only uploading the same emoji on another server or changing its name this will make alot of troubles to us discord server staff team so the only way to solve this problem automod could be upgraded to block the nsfw content like the one in the privacy & settings by just inputing an image which discord algo will try to figure it out then preventing it and this might be bypassed too so it's up to your staff to do the job unless they are not good then demote them and hire some strict staff which you have to be strict on them like being strict on your members.

Yes, you're right. But that method you're talking about, which blocks NSFW content in private chats, doesn't work well. I always have it enabled, and it causes issues. Many times, I can still receive that type of content, or my friends can't send me a simple innocuous photo because it's supposedly an explicit image.
The main issue is ensuring greater trust from Discord. There are a lower number of emojis than images, so why not block emojis from other servers more easily or enable a quick reporting system so to keep them on a record or a list? Every time an emoji is added, an AI could determine if it's the same image and block it0 -
because if nsfw content are blocked nsfw channel in your channel settings will be useless especially if the server is like p*h then you can't block them and don't trust ai too much because sometimes it don't go accurate with your automod desires
