Discord overlay not working, I've tried everything! please help!

Hello, so for the past 3 months (?) I've been experiencing an issue with my overlay not working, I've tried everything! I've used every tutorial up to the 5th page of google, I've reinstalled, I've formatted my disk, I've even switched computers! and it still isn't working! I have the enable in game overlay option on in settings (I've turned it off and on multiple times), I have overlay on in the registered games section, tried to turn that on and off too, I've changed my keybinds for the overlay, and it still hasn't worked! I've tried with my entire steam library (29 games) and some other games and it still hasn't worked! my brother who uses the same computer and old computer just on a different windows user profile has it working completely fine for him (I've tried making a new user profile twice)! my mobile overlay works fine when I use it, if that's somehow related. I know it's not because I've moved my voice overlay offscreen because as aforementioned I have changed the keybinds and it still does nothing, but also because I have no message overlay either! any help is extremely appreciated!
