Affordable Discord Nitro Pricing in Egypt
This feedback is motivated by Porceläin's initial post regarding localized pricing, as I noticed that we encountered similar issues.
We want to support our favorite messaging platform! But unfortunately, many of us can't.
Why can't we support our beloved Discord? Because the current pricing is too expensive for us!
To put things into perspective, the cost of an annual Discord Nitro subscription in Egyptian pounds can be roughly equivalent to 3,100 EGP. In our region, the average monthly salary is 9,200(Keep in mind that most discord users are students we don't get paid that much). Please understand that we're not complaining or seeking sympathy, but we want to highlight a significant issue – many of us simply cannot afford Discord Nitro at its current pricing.
I'd like to emphasize that this isn't about unwillingness to support Discord. On the contrary, we are eager to show our support, but the pricing barrier is a significant obstacle. Consider that for the price of an annual Discord Nitro subscription, we could buy a game like GTA 5 on Steam, and in our region, these games cost around 930 EGP.
I was directed to share this feedback by Discord's technical support. I firmly believe that this adjustment would encourage a significant increase in subscribers, as many of my friends and fellow Discord users here in Egypt express a strong desire to support the platform if the pricing were more in line with our regional economic conditions.
Furthermore, I'd like to draw your attention to the successful implementation of localized pricing by digital service providers like Spotify and Netflix in Egypt. Their pricing strategies have made their services far more accessible to the Egyptian audience, contributing to their increasing popularity. For instance, Spotify and Netflix offer competitive pricing options in Egypt that are in line with the local economic conditions. This approach has not only attracted more subscribers but has also fostered a sense of community around these services. For instance, Spotify Family is available at just 80 EGP per month, which is not only affordable but also fosters a sense of community among users.
I firmly believe that Discord has the potential to become even more prevalent in Egypt if the pricing structure could be adjusted to align with the economic realities of the country, much like these other successful platforms. By offering localized pricing that takes into account the challenges posed by inflation, you can make Discord Nitro more accessible and appealing to a wider audience in Egypt.
Please give us the opportunity to support you, and we will support Discord with enthusiasm!

I found that only payment through mobile stores has localized pricing at the moment, I hope discord adds that to their core payment system, adding a local payment method like Fawry or Vodafone Cash would be great now that debit cards are disabled internationally.

So, right now there is absolutely no way that you can pay for nitro from Egypt unless you have a USD bank account which is nowhere near affordable since then only way you can get dollars in Egypt is by buying them from black market and are priced at the moment for 51 EGP per 1 USD which will have you pay 5100 EGP for a year of nitro or 510 EGP for a month, which is just way too much, I hope Discord localize the price to around 1600 EGP for a year and 160 EGP for a month as they have on the iOS app and then add local payment methods like Fawry or Vodafone Cash since now debit, credit and prepaid cards are all disabled internationally.
