Member activity list more useful and used than reply function
I’ve been using Discord for years and admittedly while as everyone is saying there are a lot of things to complain about about the new UI, my main one will be the user activity list being lost/harder to access.
One of the most useful Discord tools for me when learning to use it initially was the easy “swipe left for channels and servers, swipe right for the list of members in each server and their activity status”
I can guarantee from my own experience and general consensus that people used that “swipe right to view members” feature much more than they will use the “swipe right to reply to a message” feature.
It was always relatively easy to reply to a message.
You have not made anything easier, you have just made it harder for people to access and view which members are active or not.
This is something I have complained about since the “swipe right to reply to message” feature started rolling out till now, and something I will continue to complain about.
I appreciate Discord updates and taking care of bugs and making the interface easier to access, but that is not what this most recent update has done.
What this new update has done is instead *decrease* the accessible of the mobile app and make all of the users lives harder, with all of the most useful tools now hidden away and the less useful ones pushed to the front.
How many different people can complain to you all about this before you actually do something about it all?
Many people I know have or are going to revert their update because the newest one is such an awful and sudden change with little to no warning and absolutely no help to old *or* new users to figure out how everything works now.

Exactly this. It's going to make servers much harder to moderate. Throw safety concerns in there too.

I like a lot of the stuff that's now available to us when you access that menu in the right that is required to reach the member list - even if it's totally inexplicable and unintuitive that an attempt to look at your members requires the Search function.
But making that the only way to see members, and replacing the previous swipe function to see members with a totally unasked for and unnecessary reply function is just bonkers.
In all the servers I'm a part of, even in massive conversation involving many people, the reply function is rarely used. Of course it's used sometimes, of course it's useful, but nowhere near enough to make it an unavoidable built in function of navigating the main screen, and especially not when it's replacing a function that was frequently used.
Since this update I cannot even count how many times I have accidentally triggered the swipe-reply just be minimally touching the screen or adjusting my grip. No one needed this shortcut, it wasn't asked for. But now it is less convenient to access something that everyone does need to see regularly, and that's the member list. Moderators and participants both need to check this frequently.
What's most frustrating is that they could have kept all the good newly introduced stuff (like the media search) by simply making that same new menu (Search-Media-Pins-Links-Files) appear at the top of the members panel which would show automatically when you swipe - exactly the same as before, exactly how we were already accessing Search, right there at the top of members. There was absolutely no reason to make that functionality more difficult to access in favor of introducing a very touchy and pointless integrated reply feature that we can't escape.
