New mobile UI counterintuitive, clumsy

It used to be an easy swipe to access both new DMs and all of my servers in the sidebar, but now I have to fumble through a swipe and multiple taps to access one group or the other. When using a mobile application, the goal should be streamlined simplicity. Adding extra steps to a communication app reduces its functionality, frustrates the user, and has absolutely no point. The performance is also dropping in a way that it's affecting my phone's battery and memory. How you managed to do this is beyond me, but you're approaching Facebook levels of unuseability.

Every user interface class offered in every college, university, and free online tutorial emphasizes making things as fluid as possible for the user. Your new design has failed this. You had the nerve to buy an ad at the Game Awards last night insisting you are still intended for gamers. This is false. Your UI is trending in a way that makes it clunkier and more in the way, both on desktop and mobile. Remember your place as a communication platform, and that your first priority should be staying out of our way while keeping us connected.
