Not capturing voice activity

While streaming a game to my friend in a direct call there are times when I cannot hear my friend speaking. They seem to hear me just fine but I cannot hear them half of the time while they're talking, Discord seemingly cuts them off on and off throughout the conversation. When not streaming a game to them I can hear them just fine. 
This has been noticeably worse since the update in Dec 2023 that also changed the mobile layout. (We are both speaking on pc app)
