Message Suspension feature suggestion
Hey there, Discord!
I have a suggestion for a new feature: Message Suspension.
It allows the moderation team to hide a message if they are unsure if it breaks the server's rules. Message deletion permanently removes the message, and nothing can be done to restore it (except for the message author to re-send an identical message). On the other hand, message suspension hides messages from everyone except people with "Suspend Messages" permission and the original message author while making them aware that their message is suspended and only visible to staff members. Meanwhile, staff can review the message without worrying about a malicious message staying up for a long time or deleting an innocent message quickly. If the message is found to be compliant with all server rules, staff can unsuspend it, making it visible to everyone again. If the message violates the rules, staff can delete it, and appropriate action can be taken (Mute, Kick or Ban). For privacy reasons, message author should be able to delete their suspended message at all times. Also, if there would be API support for this feature, Bots/Discord AutoMod will be able to suspend a message that has been flagged by their filters instead of deleting it.
Optional feature suggestion: Replies to a suspended message to be hidden as well until the message is deleted/unsuspended. In addition, there can be a "Delete with replies" option for suspended messages, which will also purge the replies to the message.
