Add a last online feature
Add a last online feature to user's profiles that can be turned off if people want to turn it off for privacy reasons or something. This would be helpful to see if someone has got a new Discord account, for example.

Clever

This would be cool, but in my opinion it should be off by default. So users would have to manually enable it for themselves if they want to display it on their profile. -24 -
would be great if there's an visibility option like only visible for everyone, friends or no one
17 -
My friends list is getting bigger and it would be cool to know, if people are still using their discord accounts.
And if you only show "online within the week" or "online within this month". That would be sufficient.

I NEED TO HAVE THIS

Make it opt in/you can select who you trust with this info
-4 -
I think the best implementation is on telegram. There I don't see "was last online 1:31 PM".
Instead I see "was last online within this day".
That is cool. So you do not interfere so much in your privacy and still, I know if someone is actively using his account.
I don't need to know exactly when he is using his telegram, but only approximately.
If it would be like this, then it should be switched on by default.17 -
they could add a "seen" thing too, it would be cool
-6 -
Only if it’s optional and requires both people to have it turned on.

Dupe of nothing.. since this is the linked post. If it's a joke, and I've been whooshed, darn.

Agreed, would like this feature.

Where the green or blue is

it could be good to see inactive users
3 -
Yeah, I agree. This feature will be awesome. I can finally check username or my friend when going offline for last longer.

Make it so that it shows the last online status and maybe what game they played. Somewhat like the Xbox app where it says:
*PLAYER NAME*
Last seen: 12hrs ago, battlefield 4
But make it so they can disable the feature and/or only show it to friends.

I support this request. This would be a great way to casually check on member activity, even if it is only restricted to people who have added you as friends. I believe it's really important information to have for administrators, clan leaders, etc. Please add this feature.

This should be togglable in user settings -1 -
I totally agree. I am used to see when people were last online on Steam or whoever offers that and I love Discord so much that I really wanna see this feature getting added, but I think we have so few upvotes that it could take some time or even never get added.
Who knows. But I'm totally for it!

Thats a realy nice Idea

(new account btw I'm original poster) Thanks for 100 upvotes lol. I appreciate all the comments that have been left, and personally I agree with the people that have been saying that it should say something like online within the last day/week/month etc.
4 -
Yeah it needs this added asap. Even if it just told you when someone had been inactive for a month or 2 " Has not been seen online in quite some time "

No, please no. Just no. Reasons like why this isn't added keep me from switching to something else. If this was added, I'd honestly switch to an other app, and I know I'm not the only person who would do that. So yeah. -5 -
I like this idea. 2 -
Just as an idea, Telegram has a feature really similar to this, and I liked how they did it. They implemented the feature like this:
- You can adjust who can see your last online, by default this is set to on but, only the specific last online for contacts, and a general one for all others.
- Other users who are not in your contacts can only see generic things like "Last seen recently", "Last seen a while ago" "Last seen a long time ago". These general phrases keep the stalkers away while giving users a good idea of that person's activity. For those who are in their contacts, you see things like "Last seen 5 minutes ago" or "Last seen 9:12PM" instead of these phrases. Each phrase encases a large time frame, while still be specific enough for general use cases.
- You can only see people's last online messages if you share yours, however if the other user sets their last online thing to Everyone, then you can see the specific last online, even if you don't share your specific last online with them.
- This is how telegram handles the settings:
I think how telegram implemented their last online system was quite smart, and even users who don't want this last online thing can simply turn it off.

I like this idea, but how would this work with people who are on invisible? Probably about 80% of my friends are on invisible by default and never switch it to the online status.Would this feature then show when these perma-invis friends last used the 'online' status?

I would love this. The prune function in discord is very lacking. People who have roles assigned cannot be pruned, so I'd like to be able to see when someone was last online (or last posted in a server, that'd be cool too) so I can clean out the member list manually without having to waste half a day checking when people were last active.

This would be very nice. However, a little bit of customization is needed.
I suggest that you can change 2 options in this;
Who can see your last login: Everyone, friends, nobody. (First suggested by @Thunder33345)
Everyone would either mean everyone who looks at your profile, or it could require you to also be in same server, similar to when you can send messages.
Friends is pretty much self-explanatory, so is nobody.
How much can they see: Accurate, vague, nothing.
Accurate would state something like: Last online: 16:14 PM or 3 hours and 16 minutes ago. Possibly another option?
Vague would be what @hiccups suggested, it would say something like: "Last online [today, few days ago, week ago, etc]."
And nothing is again quite self-explanatory.
These would still be fine just among other settings, but if you want even more customization, like custom precision of given time, which online modes count (Online, idle, DND) and something that I forgot just before I got this far, then you would already need to add own subcategory of settings for this whole feature to avoid cluttering the settings.Default settings could be vague and friends only. Sometimes you might need more accurate data, for example to estimate when someone will return. So people could decide to give accurate data. But by default the settings would not invade privacy notably. But also there has to be option to refuse to give any data, for those very privacy-sensitive people that do not want any data to be automatically collected and shared.
Thanks for your time,
~Shinare2 -
it would break "invisible" status
-1 -
It would be an option, so if you wanted to remain invisible, you could just disable it.

I think only the Server Admin(s) should be able to see "last online", within their own Server ofc. Other than that adding this feature will turn many ppl off.
