Accessibility Issues with both Desktop and Mobile Apps
AbgeschlossenI am blind and have recently begun using Discord because my online D&D game moved its voice system from Roll20 to Discord. The mobile app is almost impossible to use because, while more of the bottoms and objects are labeled, t here are still many that are not labeled and the scrolling function, or lack thereof, is a nightmare. The chat windows keep jumping so it is impossible to keep up with chat history.
I have had more trouble with the Desktop application. I use a Mac and the Mac built-in Oivceover and said Voiceover program constantly informs me that Discord window has a lot of "scroll areas" but not much else. Oh, there's the occasional area of "HTML Content," but it has yet to tell me what kind of content.
And, hey, while we're on the subject, the website is about 50% unusable for those using voiceover. Just htought I'd mention that. It took me almsot three hours to navigate to this section. I was looking for a way to email the company directly and never found that.
Frankly, it's just not a very useful environment for me. I am currently petitioning my GM to move us to Skype because it is better, but I hate being the one person who needs all the special accommodations and makes everyone else adjust what htey're doing just for me. It would be so much more convenient if Discord could just make their environment more friendly to the blind.

Discord has launched an a11y initiiative with the aim of improving accessibility. It sounds like something that could be useful here, so if you're interested in checking that out, the invite is https://discord.gg/discord-testers 0 -

accessibility has improved. Discord is now usable with screen readers. 0 -
Agree. Discord is almost unusable on poor vision days. Can’t ever get it to read the content of messages.
