Allow Nitro Credit to be used without the need to insert payment info
Recently I had a friend gift me nitro about a month ago and was nearing the last few days of that subscription. During the grace period however, my friend sent me another subscription for 1 more month, but as it turns out, this subscription was not redeemed immediately and was instead stored as 'credit' that could be used when attempting to make a purchase for Nitro after inputting credentials for it.
My suggestion is that we should be able to activate Nitro Credit manually if it's being stored onto our accounts, without the need to input any sort of credentials to activate it. I myself and possibly tons of other people do not have access to a bank account/PayPal needed in order to activate this credit. As such I would find it extremely convenient if I could just activate the stored credit manually without having to worry about needing credentials in order to use it at all.

This needs to be implemented asap, literally no reason to force people putting their credit card details/paypal when its a gift. When you get birthday gifts, you aren't supposed to be showing your bank details before receiving it. I'm not sure why is this grace period even a thing if its creating problems for you guys.

I just ran into this issue. It's clearly trying to force people into a subscription they'll forget about. I do not have credit cards nor a working paypal so I mined crypto for 15 days, bought a working gift link, and now Discord has essentially stolen my $10 because I can't redeem a credit I already own. Will never buy nor request Nitro from a friend again until this is resolved, not ony because it's extortion, but also because I couldn't even use it if they got me it.

It may just be technical but this comes off as super shady, Discord. I don't want to and shouldn't have to expose my payment information to you in order to use a gift. I got two Nitro gifts a month ago, hours apart, from two different people, and now I believe I'm being coerced into using my payment information if I want to redeem the second one. If there isn't a way to delete that information afterwords, I am going to consider removing my account. :( It's a real shame, because I was considering subscribing to Nitro before I realized how sketchy this was.

My Xbox game pass gave it to me with there new partnership and i dont have a credit card this is BS!!! Why the heck do you need peoples credit card info for claiming a gift?

Well I was in the same boat a month ago. After trying out several things, I gave up and decided to enter my payment details. I opened discord in my browser, and clicked on subscribe. And voilà, I didn't need to enter any payment details (it was optional). It consumed the nitro credit and I got my nitro. Opening discord in the browser worked for me, but I don't know if it will for others. However, I think it's worth a try. Good luck!

I'm currently stuck with the same issue which is leading to another issue that when I move to put my credentials in to activate a sub in order to use the credits, it adds a server boost payment as extra which I do not want. There's no option to take off the Server Boost addition. :/

I got nitro credits from gift also and can't activate it without subscribing and pay. Don't put a gift option at nitro if the receiver will still pay

I've had this issue twice now. I got Nitro from my Xbox Game Pass, and it wanted me to type credit card information. Then I got the automatic free one month, which ended with the same issue. I would like if it was fixed.

Yea same, I also wanted to claim my Nitro which was in the inventory... But as someone said, we don't have a credit card or a bank account just to claim a gift... It doesn't make sense to do so!
I get it, your only way of income through the app is Nitro, but please allow us to claim gifted nitro's that are in the inventory... Just make it so like whenever the old subscription ends, it automatically claims the one in the inventory. I was one of the few lucky person to win a Discord Nitro GIveaway, and it's such a shame to not be able to use it.

I agree, Recently a friend gifted me a Nitro classic ( $5 ) And a week or so, Another friend gifted me a Discord nitro ( $10 ) I claimed it and it didnt upgrade my plan. instead, it became a Nitro Credit. Well its all good but the problem is, I dont have a got damn credit card neither paypal? I cant even do anything right now since i dont have a freaking credit card. WELP discord prolly scammed $10 then, GG

Thanks for the idea. I claimed my nitro credits from login my discord account to browser without paying anything. Just proceed to nitro classic subscription the one with 10$ your nitro credit will be used and activate it for free

Is Discord literally just ignoring this post? This should get implemented ASAP because when I got my first free 30 day offer from Discord themselves, it asks for my Credit Card details like why.. it's a gift, why would you force me to put my credit card details? That's beyond stupid.
I've been trying to claim this free gift from Discord for over 2 hours now and I haven't found a solution on how to claim it without putting my credit card details. If you're wondering what I'm talking about here it is.
I've already tried claiming this gift with the browser version but it's still not working. If you tell me to use the 'Autofill from Browser' for some reason it's changed to 'Autofill from Browser N/A'.

Reponse to arthoeslent, Sadly that is not true. It asks for credit card info which most people redeeming a gift don't have, as they are all probably around 13 to 15. Meaning they can't redeem unless they get their parents permission to use their card which their parents most likely would say no and be suspicious of it.

Ridiculous. Really ridiculous of you, Discord. Can't people enjoy a free Nitro without having to enter their credit card info like that? I don't want to go ask my parents (I'm old enough to have my own card but haven't made it yet) for their credit card info... Consider those people that don't have a credit card and then force them doing this. Hopefully ONE DAY they'll do something about this. I could ask a friend of mine to enter their info but it's too risky and I don't want to do that even.

I got a free nitro gift from discord for a month, but I have to fill the credit cards and all. Does discord expect a 13-17 year old have acces to credit cards? Its weird and pain, I really want to claim it so that I could use it to change pfp and such

Please its actually bs my friend gave me nitro as a gift and i cant even use it because another friend also gave it to me, so im stuck with stupid credit and nothing to do with it because i have no bank account. Funny how after 2 years yall still aint fixed it. :|

And even if you do have a credit card, not everyone wants Discord to have their bank details, it is confidential stuff. This is straight but stupid.

Hey guys, you can actually use your discord credit by going on to WEB discord browser. Then go to settings > Subscriptions > Subscribe. Go ahead and select the plan of your nitro. Then you'll see that the billing info says the nitro credit is applied, select "don't add payment" option and you get the nitro right away! :) Make sure to use web discord.
