This could be very interesting in a period like this where student are not able to go school because of COVID-19. It can help professors to teach with a webcam at distance.

It will be really useful for our University because we started to use Discord in our department for lectures and practical tasks demonstration. So far, everyone is forced to use additional third-party Camera capture programs.

Such built-in functionality eliminates many problems.

How did I miss that this wasn't possible when our department settled on Discord because the students were more familiar with it.  I need to share a screen AND be able to switch to my camera in a lecture.  Apparently these two features are completely separate?

In all of the articles I've been finding, when you are in a video call there is a button to switch between vid call and screen.  Just turn that button on for screen sharing so it can switch to vid call!

Honestly, this seems so trivial with their technology stack (they've already implemented camera capture and streaming) that there must be a 'reason' they're not doing it.  I'm guessing internally there is some opinion of what kind of 'content' go live should be used for vs group DM video chat.

If that is true, I'd like to address that group:
    1. Group DMs require friending people on discord to invite, so creating 'named group DMs' for each stream has a downside vs creating an audio channel on a server, which anyone can join without friending.
    2. Group DM video chats let everyone participate (Great! but not always what is wanted).  For presenting/lecturing/meeting its fine if there is just one video.  Go live allows multiple people to go live while all talking, and people switch between to see what each person has to say.  Different than a group DM, but not worse or better (except that the feed must be a screenshare).
    3. Named group DMs are push based: When you 'start' a named video call DM, it 'rings' everyone.  Go live allows people to come and go as they please, which makes sense in some servers.

I hope these are convincing reasons why its nice that group DMs and go live have different behavior, but the flexibility of using camera in either seems like a no-brainer.  Maybe the thought internally is that this is a feature only the 'new' users (work at home, remote lecture, school) would want and the 'core' customers (gamers/streamers) don't, but that seems pretty wrongheaded, as vlog/streaming content has shown the demand for camera streamed content in a scenario that I think go live is supposed to facilitate.

Also, minor addition request, it would be nice to be able to switch inputs in the go live interface to toggle in and out of camera mode (like in DMs) instead of having to click switch screen, navigate to (I assume) a new third tab called camera, and then clicking ok.  Just keep going back and forth easy I guess.
