Add the ability to quickly switch between default display names and profile pictures. These preset name-avatar combos would when clicked on show the account's name and roles as if it were a nick. They would be placed in an easily-accessible menu for easy switching on-the-fly.

Currently the best way to do this is through a bot which deletes your message and reposts it through a webhook. It's far from perfect in that the messages posted in this way cannot be searched by poster, users using the bot cannot be blocked, one has to react to the message to get info on the poster, and the [BOT] tag causes a lot of confusion to those who haven't seen the bot before.

There are two main groups who will benefit from this feature: roleplayers and plural systems. Roleplayers can have a profile for their character to switch to when in character, and can switch back to their normal profile when out of character. For roleplayers it's a matter of convenience, but for plural systems this feature can be life-changing.

Plural systems are, basically, many minds in one body. Each member of a system is a distinct person with their own personality, thoughts, and opinions. The incidence rate of Disassociative Identity Disorder, a disorder that causes plurality, is 1-3%. Based on that number, in a server with a hundred members, it is likely that at least one of them is plural and would greatly appreciate, if not require, this feature. However, there are many non-disorder (i.e. tulpa and endogenic) plural systems, so that number is likely to be higher. Allowing members of plural systems to talk as themselves without resorting to hacky workarounds would be doing a substantial portion of your users a favor.

    this is a very good idea! there are around 70000 servers that currently use pluralkit as a workaround for this feature. it would be great if this had built in support, and your solution seems pretty airtight.
