Ability to see replies to a message

Yes!

I personally don't care about the reply feature one bit, but I absolutely hate the fact that "quote" button has been removed. It had so much flexibility that the replies made completely impossible. At the very least, allow replying to multiple messages for when people split their point into multiple messages and people really do that a lot. But I still need the many features available of the old "quote" button. Manually using the ">" markup with copy-pasting is far too tedious.

I made a mockup for this:

can definitely agree on this as a feature

Yes this would make discord more powerful. I feel that is lacking and could make it a pseudo and effective forum post thread. So people don't have to keep repeating the question. Once they find a message with same question they can just click to see all reply.

Agree.... right now using Discord for "support" in a moderately busy channel is IMPOSSIBLE

Agreed, I just joined a large server and searched for a question I had and found someone else had posted something already, but it's hard to search for all the replies to that question

I also would love to see this feature.

This is absolutely needed. It is a huge pain having to just scan for the replies to a message in a server.
Telegram does it well, where it shows you in the bottom right of the message how many replies there are and you can right click to view all replies - see screenshot.

Please implement this.

Please implement this, a huge productivity push

Great feature idea

Telegram has this features and it works like a charm.

Please implement this feature.
For example, in Japan, you can check all the replies at once with this behavior in a huge forum.
Very easy to use.
Please use it as a reference.

There's somewhat of a workaround for this if you search for mentions:<username>. Though you can't see the replies in a single thread (I don't think) you can at least see them all without scanning the whole chat log.

I really need this feature, I'm having a really hard time tracking replies to my messages. I've tried to create threads, but these don't appear to be long-lived (which a support forum should do), the threads are highly visible for a short period of time and then seem to effectively disappear.

I'm evaluating Discord for my work group (considering switching from Telegram). Need this feature as well. It would be great to have a way to go from any message in the replies chain to a thread-like view to inspect all the messages in that chain.
Telegram allows to navigate to that thread-like view only from the very 1st message of the chain, so few extra clicks (sometimes around 10 extra clicks depending on how long the chain is) needed to get to the root message. Still it's better than having nothing of that kind.
We're working asynchronously and it's critical for us to be able to check whether there are any updates/replies on a particular message given that we don't know who exactly could reply.

This is a much needed feature, especially for the numerous high-traffic support discords out there for various services and products. I can easily search if someone asked a question that I also want the answer to, but if I could find the replies that would save tons of time, anxiety, frustration.
This should be considered not just a UX issue but also an accessibility one.Replies have links that go back to the message replied to. I'm grateful for that, but please add this feature! 🙏

It's 3 years since this feature was requested. PLEASE add this feature. Common sense says it's a good and needed feature.

Needed enough to convince me to make a support account! Please! This is necessary for Discord to continue to grow as a successful community and information platform.

yes please implement this! there's not always a thread. if there is just scattered replies to a message it is hard to see them all, especially if it's not my message.

Until discord makes the feature themselves, there is a workaround which involves searching a bit through the HTML:
- In the channel you are looking for replies in, hit Ctrl + Shift + I
- In the top left of the window that opens up, you'll see box with a cursor in it. Click that.
- click on the message you want to see the replies for. (NOTE: make sure you click on the actual text or content that they entered, not the profile picture or anything)
- You'll see the HTML that makes up that message now. Look for a div which has a id="message-content-xxx", where the xxx is just some random numbers. (NOTE: not the messageContent__12ab3 one, the one with dashes like the one shown above)
- double click the message-content-xxx part and copy it.
- press Ctrl + F, then press Ctrl + V. This will open the element search and it pastes in the id you just copied.
- now when you press enter, it'll flip through the other html elements which have a reference to that message content, which just so happen to be the replies
Discord please make this an actual feature and don't make us resort to doing something this hacky to get replies to a message.

Discord team - pleeeeease imement this feature! As you know, a critical feature teams in slack use is ephemeral threads. Discord threads are nothing like this.
In the middle of a big conversation someone asks a question. How do you see the responses to this question or the follow up questions and comments to those? In discord currently you are out of luck.
A lot of us using slack hate slack and want to switch to discord. ALL WE NEED is a way to see all replies to a comment as a single visual thing. It would make life so much better.
You can even keep doing what you're currently doing as the default behavior. Just keep showing comments as one offs. But when I tap the reply give me the option to see all replies in one place.
Please!
