Mobile notifications while app is in focus

Not sure if this exists, but is there a way I could get notified of discord stuff while the app is in focus? I had to disable the built-in in-app notification, since it was distracting from the conversation I was having at the moment it showed up, and I kept hitting it by accident, taking me to the channel before I wanted to go. I've ended up switching to other apps so I could get notifications at the top of the screen of conversations going on in servers I wasn't looking at.
