Effective Blocking
The blocking system on Discord is distressingly ineffective when you're forced to share a server with someone you don't want to interact with. Not only can a blocked user read your messages, but you're shown when they post and even get notifications from their messages, making it a lot harder to resist hitting that "1 blocked message" prompt. If I block a user, I want to be certain that I can't contact them and they can't contact me. A few suggestions for improving blocking:
First and most importantly, the option to choose between the current blocking system or a more extreme version for instances of harassment or safety risks. It would be more realistic to implement on an account-wide basis rather than a specific case by case between individual users, but if the devs are willing to put in the work, that would make it even better.
With this increased blocking capability:
-User is removed from the visible list of any servers they share with the blocker.
-Blocker cannot see and does not get notified for any messages the user sends.
-User cannot access the blocker's profile or react to messages sent by the blocker.
-If a friend request is sent, the blocker will receive a warning: "This user is on your blocked list. Proceed with friend request?"
-Ability to add a reason for blocking, much like when a user is banned, for personal record keeping.

I support this but this should be listed in SERVER PRIVACY DEFAULTS that goes with Do not show blocked users in servers.
The 1 blocked message prompt that can be viewed should be retained for other purposes for preference. Its up to the user to disable block peeking if they truly want that person out of their life.

Just spoke with support asking why this isnt done more indepth, I have 1 bad egg in a server of over 100 and it seems my only option is to leave? abit of a joke.
there needs to be a massive update in privacy and blocking settings in discord
