Discord BMP Support: Why We Want It
First things first, Hello! i've been here since 2017 and this is my first feedback! you guys are doing brilliant and i'm looking forward for more updates.
Now, onto the thing i'm trying to tell you.
I'm a BMP user and i have a lot of BMP files. i like my images to be top quality for editing and/or presenting, but it seems as though whenever i decide to upload a BMP image, it displays it as an image in the preview but it displays itself as a downloadable file instead.

i'm pretty sure you BMP users out there know that pain, right?
from my research on this situation, it seems as though you've all been feeling this pain that's dated all the way back into 2016!
"why can't you just convert the image to PNG/JPEG?"
"it'd be easier if you just converted the image with MSPaint."
"we're not living in 2000th anymore, just save your images as JPEG/PNG!"
Yes while i can convert the BMP image to JPEG, i choose not to. why? because the quality of the image drops and becomes 50% more difficult to edit when mistakes are spotted.
Speaking of image conversion, there are people out there who can't just convert all of their BMP images to JPEG without getting impatient with the process, or worse case scenario, witnessing their computers getting infected with a virus because of a decade-old software that "converts" images but installs something nasty instead.
It's happened before and it'll happen again.
but my point is that yes, while everyone is able to upload JPEG, PNG and GIFs on Discord, i, including others like me like to still use BMP for our images. that's why we're asking for Discord's support on BMP images.
it'll probably take time to sew the support into the web/app's code, but at least it'll be worth it when it's finished.

I second this, and would like to explain why I think .BMP is really useful:
Fallout: New Vegas (and other games) make screenshots in that exact format.
I'm in a few FNV servers myself and it really sucks to have to convert my screenshot's all the time.

I am still waiting for .BMP support ever since I started using Discord five years ago. If the file is under the upload limit then what is the problem? I still have quite a few images which are in .BMP and as somebody else has pointed out a lot of games save screenshots in .BMP so it's annoying to have to put that image into MS Paint just to convert the format to .PNG despite the original .BMP being well under the upload limit.
