Compact mode space between users

I'm on Canary Build 53613, where the distance between users have been completely removed in compact mode. This is an awful update, I liked the distance between messages, made it more easy to see the difference. At the very least, let compact mode use the "Space between message group" slider, because currently it just ignores it (this slider goes to 0, so if people want no space, they can slide it to 0). If this is not fixed I will be abandoning compact mode, because not having any space between or customization to change it just makes it harder to read.

    Issue is the same for Cozy mode. Removing the space made by the grey lines makes everything feel so cluttered now. It would be nice if the lines could at the absolute be an option. Most of their UI updates are either tolerable or useful, this is just straight up worse.
