The new UI system feels claustrophobic and ill thought out
The new Discord UI that was released today feels ill thought out and claustrophobic.
The thin and sleek lines and decent spacing between messages made cosy actually feel like what it said on the tin; "cosy", but now it feels like a lazy version of compact mode.
Also, the highlighting on messages is obnoxious and annoying. It makes scrolling through chats a visual nightmare. One thing I do like, however, is the new options and reactions bar on the right of the current message, as this can actually prove very useful, so I'd say that's a keeper.
If the new UI is retained and no option to roll back is installed, I'm not sure how long I'd last on Discord. This is just my personal opinion, but from people I've spoke to, the response to these changes seem pretty unanimous - we need an option to change it, or it needs to go.
Edit: Also the most recent messages in the chat are too close to the messaging bar at the bottom of the screen, and the separation line between the chat and the message bar should be restored.

Exactly what I came to say. The only positive change from this is that now each message is individually timestamped. The quick reactions are trash and need to go, or at the very least, be an option.

I agree, I believe they should just keep the new reaction and quote UI thing, the rest is just, icky.

Right here same why did they have to update it was fine just before now its just feels weird....

Although I am not disgusted by it, it does indeed look like compact mode but 25% more room. The lighting also feels weird.

Yep the response is universally negative as far as I can tell. Discord will be making a big mistake if they don't revert this.

Then the reaction button up the messages it's annoying

I'd have to agree with Ion.
